Fergie posts adorable new photo with Queen's corgi as dogs move into new home

After Her Majesty's death, the Duchess of York and ex-husband Prince Andrew have shared an adorable update after adopting the Queen's corgi.

Following the tragic death of our longest-reigning monarch last month, it was announced that the pair would be fighting the dogs.

Sarah Ferguson posted a photo on Instagram of herself and her two corgis looking happy in the sun on Saturday morning.

"The gift that keeps on giving," she wrote alongside the photo.

The post was liked by thousands, with one user commenting: "Bless them all. Big hug to the corgi and you."

Her Majesty the Queen stopped keeping dogs seven years ago because she didn't want to keep any dogs when she died.

It is understood Andrew and his daughters have given her two corgis, Muick and Sandy, over the past few years, promising to take care of them if she died.

Andrew, Beatrice and her sister Eugenie are said to have given the Queen Mook to accompany Prince Philip while she was in hospital, while the Prince of York gave her Sandy on Prince Philip's 100th birthday in June .

During her lifetime, the Queen owned more than 30 corgis, all descended from her first Susan, who was given to her for her 18th birthday by her father, King George VI. Corgi names are: Sugar, Buzz, Brush, Geordie, Smoky, Dash, Dime, Disco and Dipper.

In 1971, her corgi, Tiny, and Princess Margaret's dachshund, Pipkin, unexpectedly became a little too friendly, and she invented the Dorgi.

But it turned out to be a rather lucky encounter, as the queen loved the puppies so much she decided to breed more over the years.

Following news of her death, a dog expert has claimed the Queen's corgi may have suffered from depression.

While dogs don't understand the concept of death, dogs can feel the loss of their owner, says John Smith, a dog expert and founder of Yappy, a pet personalization site.
